The Church of St Peter in Kings Ripton
The village and parish of Kings Ripton in Huntingdonshire.Kings Ripton is one of the parishes of the District of Huntingdonshire, whose administrative centre is Huntingdon, the other principle towns being St Ives home of the Chapel on the Bridge, St Neots the largest town in the County of Cambridgeshire, the Roman town of Godmanchester and Ramsey site of the former Abbey. Kings Ripton is a village of three farms, one for the King, Manor Farm, one for the church, Glebe Farm and another, Walden Farm. In addition to the farms there are only a handful of houses and cottages, none of which date back more than four or five hundred years. The church of St Peter in Kings Ripton is a different matter and largely dates back at least 800 years and contains a splendid Norman font that has a massive carved stone bowl enriched with foliage. The church also possess a rare stone altar.
